Making Your Own Bath Bombs Is Easy!

Everyone enjoys a good bathtub experience. A glass of wine while soaking away your worries is the perfect way to relieve stress. Here is a recipe we found that we love! Citric acid isnt just used for making wine, you can create your own luxurious bath bombs with simple ingredients. We sell citric acid frequently at our store and its relatively cheap to buy. Great gifts for stagettes, birthdays and more! Try it for yourself 😉

1. Gather your supplies

  • 8 oz. of baking soda
  • 4 oz. of citric acid
  • 4 oz. of corn starch
  • 4 oz. of Epsom salts (make sure these are fine grained)
  •  ¾ tsp. of water
  • 2 tsp. essential oil
  • 1 tsp oil (we like almond or coconut oil)
  • A few drops of food coloring (optional)
  • Round, plastic, snap together dome molds (Michaels Craft Store)
  • Whisk
  • Bowl and cup for mixing
  • Fluffy towel

Note:  One of the best parts of making your own bath bombs is getting to choose the essential oils! You can go with floral scents like lavender or rosemary, or a citrus blend withlemon or grapefruit.  Some other common essential oils used for bath bombs are peppermint, vanilla and chamomile.

2. Combine dry ingredients. Dump all of your dry ingredients (citric acid, corn starch, Epsom salts and baking soda) into a big bowl and stir together with your whisk.

3. Combine wet ingredients. Place all of your wet ingredients (water, essential oil, almond oil and food coloring) into a cup and stir until well mixed.

4. Mix together. Pour the wet ingredients into the bowl with the dry ingredients and stir them. (The mixture should begin to clump together.)

5. Pack mixture into molds. Grab your plastic mold and pack the mixture into the first half of the mold. Pack it as tightly as you can! Then, do the same with the second half.

6. Press together. Add some extra mixture on top of the second half and squeeze the molds together to create your sphere. Press firmly! Tip: If the mixture isn’t packing well, place the ingredients back in the bowl and add a tiny amount of water. Be careful, though – too much water will ruin your bath bomb!

7. Let dry. Wait a few minutes, and then carefully remove the bath bomb from the mold. Place them on wax paper on top of a fluffy towel. Let the bath bombs dry for at least one day before you use them! If your bath bombs are a gift, wrap them in cellophane or tissue paper. To store them, keep them in a plastic, airtight container.

Wedding Wine Tips

How much wine should you make for your wedding? – You should assume 2 bottles of red and 2 bottles of white per table (assuming 10 guests per table). For example, if you have 25 tables at your wedding you would need a total of 50 bottles of red and 50 bottles of white. Our wine kits make 30 bottles per kit so 2 red kits and 2 white kits would have you covered with a few extra leftover.

Not sure what type of wine to serve at your wedding? We’ll help guide you through the process – but when in doubt, Merlot and Pinot Grigio are excellent, crowd-pleasing varietals. Be sure to let us know what your meal is so we can expertly pair your wine.

To avoid unnecessary waste, instruct your wedding planner and/or bartenders NOT to open every single bottle of wine at your reception – This way you’ll have some left over for the honeymoon 😉
